PLEX sizes telecom room and equipment room infrastructure — power, UPS, generator, PoE budget, and cooling load — from a list of devices you actually plan to install. Add presets, edit quantities, review the summary, export a portable .plex file or print to PDF.

CIRCUITS & BREAKER SIZING
125% continuous-load factor applied for planning. Circuit amperage at selected PDU voltage and applied power factor. Breaker shown is next standard commercial size above continuous-load current. Verify final circuiting with EOR/AHJ.
PER-RACK BREAKDOWN
POWER CONSUMPTION & CIRCUIT SCHEDULE
  • Power Factor. Default 0.90 applied to all loads. Adjust under Global Settings for known equipment behavior.
  • NEC 125% Continuous Load. Applied for planning — breaker and generator sizing. Final circuiting to be verified and signed off by EOR/AHJ.
  • PoE Budget. Compared against camera real draw (typical operating watts), not maximum PoE class budget. Headroom is calculated against switch published PoE budget.
  • Wall-Mount Device Wattages. Wattages for wall-mounted devices (ACS controllers, power supplies, locks, intercoms, and field equipment) are reference estimates. Verify actual draw against manufacturer specifications and final hardware selections before design completion.
  • Cooling Load. BTU/h = Watts × 3.412. Cooling tons = BTU/h ÷ 12,000. HVAC recommendation includes a 25% buffer.
  • Generator Sizing. Total load × 1.25 (continuous). Growth recommendations show +25% and +50% above continuous.
  • UPS Runtime. Linear estimate from nameplate full-load runtime, scaled by load percentage. Actual runtime varies with battery age, temperature, and load profile.
  • Breaker Selection. Breaker shown is the next standard commercial size at or above calculated continuous-load current. Final breaker and conductor sizing by licensed electrical engineer.
  • Redundant Power Supplies. Total system draw is unchanged — dual PSU equipment shares the load between supplies.
  • Scope. Preliminary planning and coordination only. PLEX does not replace stamped electrical design. All outputs require review and sign-off by a licensed electrical engineer.
